ALFA Heroes Honored at National Conference

The Assisted Living Federation of America (ALFA) honored the winners of the ALFA 2012 Hero Awards on May 17th, 2012 at COMMUNITY 2012, the ALFA Conference and Expo Hero Award Luncheon.

Five heroes, extraordinary individuals who serve older adults in senior living communities, were chosen as representatives and role models for the tens of thousands of senior living community professionals.

During this luncheon, Angels Among Us: A Celebration of Heroes in Senior Living, the five ALFA Hero Award winners were recognized for championing quality of life for the residents they serve and their embrace of the resident-centered philosophy of senior living.

The 2012 ALFA Hero Award winners are:

  • Ijeoma Egerue of Millcroft Senior Living
    A Five Star Senior Living community located in Newark, Delaware

  • Andre Henderson of Legend at Jefferson's Garden
    A Legend Senior Living community located in Edmond, Oklahoma

  • Obdulia Hernandez of Lake Barrington Woods
    A Senior Lifestyle Corporation community located in Lake Barrington, Illinois

  • Jackie Robertson of Emeritus at Sugar Land
    An Emeritus Senior Living community located in Sugar Land, Texas

  • Gabriel Valencia of The Gables
    A Brookdale Senior Living community located in Monrovia, California

"The 2012 ALFA Hero Award winners are exemplars of the great work done every day in senior living communities across the country," said Richard P. Grimes, President and CEO of ALFA. "Their dedication and passion for serving seniors are the reasons more older adults choose to call senior living communities their home." ALFA also recognized a number of individuals as the ALFA 2012 Champions of Senior Living.
